Shows you get sucked into

Have you ever just gotten sucked into a show? You know what I mean, you hear about a it and you think there is no way that Zombies or people stuck on an island could be that interesting. Then you watch one episode and you are HOOKED! This happens to Daniel and I more than I would like to admit and it all began when he showed me the first episode of Lost in college. I remember I watched it for three days straight over Christmas break. Crazy!!!

I haven’t watched that much TV since then (good thing), but some other shows that have had the same affect include Dexter, Breaking Bad and last but not least The Walking Dead. I like to think since The Walking Dead was filmed in Atlanta I have an excuse to watch it, but in all honesty I’m fascinated with the idea of going back to the basics. Daniel and I have conversations about our “game plan” if anything like that were to ever happen, where we would take refuge and how we would meet our basic needs. It’s wild I know, but it provides for some pretty interesting conversation.

Have you ever had a show or a book that you just couldn’t stop watching/reading? Don’t even get me started on the Hunger Games, I wish there were more than just three books!

Engagement Sessions

Engagement sessions are so much fun and SO important in my eyes! The majority of my couples book online and as crazy as it seems their engagement session is the first time that I meet them face-to-face.  Can you imagine showing up to a wedding and not knowing who the groom is? Eek! I can’t!

A lot of couples have never been professionally photographed and they have no idea what to expect. It’s scary to be in front of a camera when you aren’t used to it! Having this time together really allows me to get to know a couple and understand the way that they move together. Not only do they become more comfortable in front of a camera, but it also gives me the opportunity to figure out how they look the best together.

When the wedding day finally arrives I am able to show up as a friend, not just a hired hand. Couples are more comfortable with my presence and when it comes down to the emotional moments I like to think they totally forget that I am there. It’s a win-win for everyone and I like to think couples enjoy their sessions as much as I do.

Fun Discoveries | Audible.com

The other day I discovered Audible.com and I am in love. I’m the type of person that needs complete silence to get serious tasks accomplished, but when it comes to editing or things that are redundant I love having something to listen to. I used to  listen to crime shows then I realized that multiple shows were making episodes out of the same crimes, not cool. The fact that I even noticed that they were reusing stories should have been a sign. Daniel thought it was creepy that I listened to Investigation Discovery while I worked, but in a weird way I think it was a balance from the incredibly sweet to the not so sweet.  I’m a sentimental cryer so as you can imagine wedding photos make me cry and if I cried everyday while I worked I would just be a mess.

Whatever the reason, I started looking for other things to listen to. History Channel 2 was great for a while, but then I discovered Audible.com. This website is amazing. Not to long ago I bought a book on CD’s (not just one CD, but 4) and I realized as I was slipping them in and out of the CD player that Daniel would be ashamed. I have a bad habit of sticking with things that I know well and I didn’t think twice about the fact that I could have just purchased the downloadable version. Not smart, my laptop won’t even play DVD’s.

Audible.com is a great resource for books. I love listening to business/self-help books while I work (I’m a dork, I know) but it really makes a difference. There are so many beneficial tidbits that I pick up along the way, not only for my business, but for everyday life. So many phrases strike a cord with me and inspire me to push myself further. I’m probably way behind the curve on discovering this, but I just thought it might be worth sharing!
